Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apple juice twice, first into cider and then into vinegar. Its key compound is acetic acid, at about 5% in the liquid.
The most cited human study, published in 2009, followed obese Japanese adults for 12 weeks. Those who drank 15 or 30 ml of vinegar a day lost roughly one to two kilograms more than the placebo group. Medical sources such as Harvard and the Mayo Clinic describe the overall evidence as limited, and researchers note that results from liquid vinegar cannot be assumed to apply to gummies.
BHB salts
BHB stands for beta-hydroxybutyrate. Your liver makes it from fat when carbohydrate intake is very low, and the body can burn it for energy. In supplements it is bound to minerals, here calcium, magnesium and sodium.
Studies of BHB supplements typically use 8 to 12 g per serving. A six-week controlled trial that added about 24 g a day to a ketogenic diet found no extra weight or fat loss compared with a placebo. The mineral figures on the BurnTide label, about 1 mg of calcium and under 1 mg of magnesium, indicate that the BHB content is small.
How the blend compares with research doses
| Ingredient | Amount in studies | BurnTide |
|---|---|---|
| Acetic acid from vinegar | 750 to 1,500 mg a day | Part of a 525 mg blend |
| BHB salts | 8,000 to 24,000 mg a day | Part of a 525 mg blend |
The label does not say how the 525 mg is divided between the two ingredients.
The gummy base
The gummy is set with apple pectin instead of gelatin, sweetened with corn syrup and cane sugar and coloured with beet root powder. That adds up to 2 g of sugar and 8 calories each. It is a small amount, but people on a strict ketogenic diet may want to count it.
What is not in BurnTide
The label lists no caffeine, green tea, guarana, cayenne, garcinia or L-carnitine. If you see those named in an advert or on another website, they are either describing a different product or going beyond the label.
